I am originally from Germany where I finished a 4-year training as an early childhood educator/kindergarten teacher. During that training I was able to have the experience of working with children from 6 months of age up to the age of 12 years. Then, I led a group of children in a so-called integrative Kindergarten, which gave me the opportunity to work with mentally/ physically handicapped children, as well as with non-disabled children at the same time. I came to the United States at the end of the year 2002 and worked as an Au Pair Professional (nanny educated in childhood development) for a family with three children (at that time they were 3, 6, and 8 years old). I decided to attend college in the US, so I continued working part-time with my host family. At the same time I also worked 30 hours a week for another family with an infant and a preschooler and offered occasional babysitting to various families. Now, I'm about to finish college this semester and hope to attend University this year in the fall. The costs for international students are unfortunately much more than what I paid at college.I'm now seeking a family who is looking for a long-term nanny (at least one year), and is willing in return to pay for my expenses. This would probably be a good opportunity for a family who is a little more flexible when it comes to the hours the nanny is needed. I am able to work full-time during summer months and all other school breaks. During the semester I would work less hours, but unless I don't have school obligations, I would be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs. I would have to attend classes during morning hours but not every day as well. I could imagine that this might be the right fit for a family that is looking for an extra hand in the household, a family that needs after school care, or a family that needs a nanny only a couple of days during the week (during school months). I can work no later than 4:30pm as I attend night classes four days a week and have to commute to school. My rates are reasonable I would perfer to work with four children or less as I don't feel that I can capably keep more than four children in check by myself.
